The invention relates to a process of mixing gypsum pulp with paper pulp, chelate-type additives being added in specific ratios in such a way that compounds which may be harmful to the environment are bound as complexes and are thus rendered chemically inert. The pulp mass is then mixed, dried and shaped, the properties of the semi- finished product formed being so economical, that they are at least quite considerably cheaper than all common building materials and moreover are environmentally inert.
