The travelling gear is for a modular movable crash barrier (1). It has a carrier unit, fastened below and inside its side walls, with two or more wheels, etc, and a lifting device. The longitudinal axis of the lifting device is formed as rotary axis for the travelling gear. The wheels rotate about fixed vertical shafts only. The lifting device is located on a transverse strut, which connects the side walls below the end wall of the barrier. It is enclosed by two telescopic guide sleeves. The lower sleeve is fastened to vertical panels, which carry the horizontal shafts of the wheels.
