The rotation base has a base plate (2) which can be horizontally aligned and a plate-shaped rotary plate (3) which supports a steerable vehicle wheel. The rotary plate can be horizontally displaced using a guide device. The angular position of the rotary plate is measured by an angle sensor. The rotary plate is vertically supported wrt. the base plate on an air cushion and has air outlets (9) at least in its region overlapping the base plate. USE/ADVANTAGE - For use with private motor cars. Eliminates e.g. high manufacturing costs involved in producing required high quality base plate surface.
