The stent comprises a first member for receiving a first vessel stump. A second member receives a second vessel stump. An engaging member engages the first and second members where the engaging member and members are constructed of a biocompatible, non-toxic material which dissolves mammalian bodily fluids. In addition, the methods for preparing the dissolvable anastomoses using the dissolvable anastomosis stent are disclosed.
