Mini disc digital audio recording system using compressed data - read from disc using memory to allow for difference in rate of data reading and processing

A so called 'mini disc' (1) is used to store digital audio data in a compressed and modulated form. The disc output is read (2) and is processed by a system having an amplifier (3), a decoder/signal processor (4), a memory controller (5), a data memory (6), an audio data expansion circuit (7), a D/A converter (8), a system controller (9), a servo circuit (10), a feed motor (13) and a spindle drive motor (12). The rate at which data are read from the disc is greater than that of processing and data are entered into the memory and read at a slower rate. The controller ensures that the memory is controlled to use its full capacity. USE/ADVANTAGE - Uses disc system memory for min. current consumption. Compatible with present information reproducers.
