The laundry weighing device and the wt. indicator (5) are coupled to the programme selector (4) and for each of the selectable washing programmes a max. wt. is prescribed. The wt. of the laundry filled into the washing drum is compared with the max. wt. for the selected washing programme and where it is insufficient or in excess a warning signal is released. The max. laundry wt. for the individual washing programmes is stored in a programme control device fitted with a signal processor.
