PURPOSE:To obtain an image synthesizer capable of reducing the number of hardwares and cost by directly writing a synthetic image in an optional position of a frame memory. CONSTITUTION:A host CPU 11 to be a processor for controlling the image synthesizer controls a frame memory 12 so as to write main image data 17 in the memory 12. A writing control means 13 has a function for directly writing a synthetic image in an optional position of the memory 12. An image mask memory 14 is constituted so as to have capacity corresponding to the picture element size of a synthetic image display area and stores a mask data indicating that the writing of image data (sub-image data) 18 in each picture element unit is to be inhibited or permitted. A synthesis control means 15 has a function for using mask data stored in the memory 14, synthesizing image data 18 and sending its output to the means 13. A display device 16 displays an image based upon an image output from the memory 12. |
