PURPOSE:To bond an optical fiber by fusion to an optical semiconductor element housing package by using a laser beam. CONSTITUTION:This package 2 is used for airtightly sealing an optical semiconductor element 4 and, at the same time, for holding an optical fiber 5 used for the communication of optical signals against the element 4. The package 2 has a main body 2a composed of a housing section 10 for housing the element 4 and a holding member 9 for fixing the fiber 5 and the surface of the main body 2a is coated with a plated layer except the end face 9a of the member 9. |
