The invention relates to an arrangement for the machining of timber logs 1, 2. By means of the arrangement a channel is opened up on the surface of a first timber log 1, which channel in the log construction matches the shape of the bearing surface of a second timber log 2 arranged opposite the first timber log 1. The arrangement comprises an elongated frame 3, at least one cutting edge 4, which is designed to move in the longitudinal direction of the frame 3 for opening up the channel, and at least one guide element 6, for tracing the bearing surface of the second timber log 2. A movement between the guide element 6 and the second timber log 2 perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the second timber log 2 is designed to be translated into a movement between the cutting edge 4 and the first timber log 1. The cutting edge 4 has been arranged in fixed contact with the guide element 6. The arrangement comprises a rigid element, which is arranged so that it is rotatable about the longitudinal cardan shaft 8 of the frame 3 and so that it translates the said movement between the guide element 6 and the timber log 2 into the said movement between the cutting edge 4 and the timber log 1 for opening up the channel. <IMAGE> |
