A tubular section (8) is held between the mast and the boat hull and is rotated by a mechanism (9). The mounting comprises an intermediate piece (22) having a bore (25) and a bolt (26) for fixing it to the hull. The intermediate piece and the drive mechanism (9,13) have complementary couplings (17,29) for immobilising them. The coupling comprises a pair of clips (17) formed from two flexible parallel strips (18), carried by a first element (13), and a pair of housings (29) in a second element (22), which take the toothed clip ends (19). The housings (29) are formed by two parallel rectilinear grooves on two opposite faces of the second element. ADVANTAGE - Enables easy mounting of the drum during masting, particularly when the drive mechanism is housed under the deck.
