PURPOSE:To produce a rare earth element-transition metal based permanent magnet material in which deposition of unfavorable phase is suppressed as low as possible by grinding a cast mass containing RE, B, and the remainder of substantial transition metal elements of Fe, Co, and Ni and then performing heat treatment under a specified ground state. CONSTITUTION:The permanent magnet material is composed of 10-25at% of RE(RE is at least one kind selected from Y and lanthanoids), 2-20at% of B, and the remainder of substantial transition metal elements of Fe, Co, and Ni. Contents of Fe, Co, and Ni are set, respectively, in the range of 10-73at%, 7-50at%, and 5-30at%, and the content of (Fe+Co+Ni) is set in the range of 55-88 ate. A cast mass having such composition is then ground and subjected to heat treatment at 800-1150 deg.C under a state of cast mass or a ground state having grain size of 0.3mm or above. This method can cancel unfavorable phase, to be deposited during dissolving casting, effectively. |
