PURPOSE: To predict channel impulse response trace breaking for escaping equalization at that point, and to improve the processing characteristics of a received sample by integrating a maximum likelihood sequence estimation processing function in an equalizer, and operating both positive and time reversal directional operations. CONSTITUTION: An input IF signal is amplified by an AMP 22, frequency converted by a frequency source 23 and a mixer 24, and filtered by a filter 25. Then, sampling is operated by a timing control circuit 37 through an equalization control circuit 33, and an 8 bit digital signal is inputted from an A.D converter 26 through a matching filter 27 to an equalizer 21. This is temporarily stored in a memory 30, a maximum likelihood sequence estimation reference is calculated by an equalization trellis 31, and a channel impulse response is estimated by a device 32. Then, a power fading position is calculated in both positive and time reversal directions, and a channel impulse response trace breaking point is predicted so that equalization beyond this point can be escaped. Thus, processing characteristics by the equalizer can be improved. |
