PURPOSE:To record and store received image data by providing a video telephone with an image memory, and at the time of specifying the recording of received image data, storing the data in the image memory. CONSTITUTION:When a RECORD key in operation keys 15 is depressed during the transmission/reception of image data, image data compressed by an image compressing part 342 based upon a system having no correlation between a preceding frame and a current frame is stored in a RAM 312 of a central processing part 31 in the compressed state. In a compression system having correlation between both the frames, a request for transmitting image data having no correlation with the preceding frame is outputted to a receiving side visual telephone set. At the time of receiving image data having no correlation, the compressed image data are stored in the RAM 312 as they are or the image data reproduced by decoding or the like are stored in the RAM 312 to start image recording. |
