PURPOSE:To allow an electric railcar to desirably travel by controlling the breaking circuit based on information from a current detector when a capacitor is charged. CONSTITUTION:A control signal 22 is supplied to a semiconductor breaking circuit 19 to chop the circuit 19 until a charging current detected by a current detector 20 exceeds a peak value. Thus, a filter capacitor 9 is charged by a constant current. If the charging current detected by the detector 20 exceeds the peak value, it is fully conducted, and only a function of the circuit 19 is thereafter operated. Thus, the peak value of the charging current is lowered, and a charging time can be shortened. In this manner, control of a DC electric railcar can be conducted at a high speed to eliminate adverse influence to a low frequency rail circuit, and the railcar can travel satisfactorily. |
