<p>A continuous drive ratchet tool apparatus (10) is comprised of drive disks (14) adapted to be connected in driving engagement with a bolt head or nut threaded fastener, a disk housing (12) having an opening (18) extending through the housing (12) and a bearing channel (36) communicating with the opening (18), one of the drive disks (14) being rotatably received in the opening (18), and a ball bearing (70) spring-biased into engagement with the disk (14). The bearing (70) selectively establishes a continuous driving engagement between the disk housing (12) and the drive disk (14) for rotating a threaded fastener in a first direction by connecting the drive disk (14) to the fastener and rotating the disk housing (12) in the first direction. The bearing (70) then permits the housing (12) to override its connection to the threaded fastener allowing the fastener to remain stationary when the disk housing (12) is rotated in a second direction opposite the first. The bearing (70) also prevents any lost motion between the threaded fastener and the apparatus (10) when rotating the apparatus (10) to again rotate the fastener in the first direction.</p> |
