An automobile having a contractible two-parted car body (100) and a turnable cabin (120). The contractible car body (100) comprises a front body (110) and a rear body (130) which are normally spaced from each other by a predetermined distance. The turnable cabin (120) is supported by the arcuate frames (1, 2) in a space between the front body (110) and the rear body (130) while being hinged to the hinged connection of the arcuate frames (1, 2) by a hinge shaft (3), the cabin (120) being normally positioned in the space but abnormally lifted above the car body (100) and swinging about the hinged connection along with the hinge shaft (3). The plurality of arcuate frames each is hinged at an end thereof to an upper side corner of the car body (100) and at the other end thereof to another frame so as to provide a hinged connection therebetween. The car body (100) is supported by a contractible underframe comprising a front frame and a rear frame connected to each other by contraction means. The contraction means is connected between the front frame and the rear frame such that the front and rear frames get near to each other as required. The automobile further includes a spline power transmission shaft capable of transmitting the power while being contractible in response to contraction of the underframe, and an exhaust pipe arranged on the engine chamber. |
