A system (10) for transporting fine solids includes a feed hopper (12) containing the solids; a variable speed rotary feeder (18) controlling the rate of solid discharge; a constant speed rotary feeder (20); a blow bottle (16) having an upper inlet (17) for receiving the solids from the constant speed feeder (20) under pressure, intermediate inlets (38) for receiving process air, or gases or inert gases, and a lower inlet (33) for receiving fluidizing air; and weight sensors. The process air conveys the solids out of the bottle (16) in continuous, dense phase flow to an outlet conduit (14). A higher sensed weight opens a control valve (54) to admit more process air to the bottle (16), thus increasing the solids discharge rate therefrom and decreasing the weight of the solids. A lower sensed weight causes the control valve (54) to close to admit less process air to the bottle (16), thus increasing the weight of the solids.
