A remote control device for a television receiver radiates signals of programme selection keys (3) operated via an infrared transmitting circuit (10, 11, 12). To facilitate the selection of one of several television programmes for the user by showing him pictures from the selectable programmes on offer in each case on the remote control device itself, the remote control device exhibits a receiving circuit (18 to 23). This receives picture signals of the television programmes which can be selected by means of the programme selection keys (3). These picture signals are stored by a memory (25). A picture display panel (6) is allocated to each programme selection key (3) on the remote control device. The picture signals are cyclically distributed from the memory (25) to the picture display panels (6) by a control circuit (24, 29, 30).
