The machine consists of a heated pressing drum (2) and an endless steel band (4) which passes around a pressing roller (8) and two pulleys (3), and then around a large section of the girth of the pressing drum. It passes around the bottom of the drum and then between the drum and a pressing roller (6), and finally along a horizontal straight stretch. The fibre or chips (5) are fed on to this horizontal stretch and are pressed between the press roller (6) and the pressing drum. The compressed, heated or cooled strip (10) passes from the drum over an interposed guide on to the surface press (11). ADVANTAGE - Improved process without the use of large diameter press rollers.
