Copolymers of propylene (prop) and hex-1-ene (hex) are claimed (I). (I) are obtd. by copolymerisation at 10-50 br and 50-100 deg. C for 1-5 hrs. (mean residence time) in the presence of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst system comprising a solid, Ti-contg. component (A), an Al component (B) and an electron donor (C). The temp. at the given pressure is high enough to prevent condensn. of the monomer mixt. in the gas space and the ratio of partial pressures (prop):(hex) = (1:1)-(120:1). USE/ADVANTAGE - Enables the prodn. of propylene/hex-1-ene copolymers (I), which are useful for the mfr. of film (e.g, for use in the food industry), tubes, coatings, fibres hollow mouldings, injection moulded prods. and moulded prods. for use in cars. (I) are statistical copolymers with mol. wt of 10,000-500,000 and MFI 0.1-100 (pref. 0.2-50) g/10 mins., esp. contg. 0.1-10 wt. % hexene and with a low heptane-solubles content. The claims also include films and moulded prods. made from (I).
