Paper-making blanket maintenance - uses combination of steam blower and suction on the same side of moving blanket

In the cleaning action on the blanket of a papermaking machine with a combined steam blowing and suction effect, the steam blower wets and/or heats and/or cleans the blanket. The suction is applied immediately afterwards, in the direction of blanket travel. The steam blowing and suction are both applied to the same side of the blanket. Pref. an additional suction box, on the same side of the blanket, is in front of the steam blower in the direction of blanket travel. The steam blower and the suction unit are combined in a single body, where the aperture for the steam blower is larger than the suction opening. The whole of the combined steam blowing/suction unit can be inncorporated in a suction/blower roller. The suction and/or blower units are divided into sections longitudinally and/or laterally, with different pressures in each section. The suction/blower roller si a pick-up roller with adjustable slits for width and/or length. The suction length is set according to the condition of the blanket and/or the actual pressures in the chambers. USE/ADVANTAGE - The system maintains the condition of the blanket, fitted to a papermaking machine, with better use of the moist hot air with simplified servicing.
