The machine joins tissue edges by an overhand sewing with a single thread. It has a driven oscillating curved needle and a forked grip on a grip bar passing through an opening in the front housing wall. The two work together, the needle puncturing the tissue edges, while the grip reciprocates along a curved path above the latter and also moves in the axial direction of the bar and turns on it. The grip bar (6) passes through the front housing wall (29), and whose opening (30) forms a bearing in which the bar tilts, slides axially and turns. Inside the housing (24) the bar travels along a track (39') symmetrically situated in relation to the curved path (39) of the grip and extending over the tissue edges (A,B). The wall opening (30) forms the symmetrical centre. The bar can slide axially and turn in a ball (31) movable in all directions in the housing wall.
