<p>In order to increase the throughput of information transfer from an audio-visual base (1) to multiple requesters (9-11) it is proposed, when a query has been raised by a requester, not to satisfy this requester immediately but to make him wait a given period (17). During this period the other requesters who are requesting the same sequence are detected. At the end of a waiting period the same sequence is distributed (22) to this collection (19) of requesters. It is shown that, by delaying distribution somewhat, the actual throughput of distribution of the data base is increased very substantially without moreover having to modify the technology for extracting the data from this base. <IMAGE></p> |
