<p>A liquid crystal image display device (1) comprises a first transparent insulating substrate (2) having a plurality of scanning lines (11), a plurality of signal lines (12) and an insulated gate transistor (10) for each pixel and a pixel electrode (14) for each pixel, a second transparent insulating substrate (9) having a transparent electro-conductive counter electrode (19) and positioned spaced a pre-determined distance from the first substrate (2) to define a chamber therebetween, and a liquid crystal material (16) filled in the chamber (Figure 8). When a drain wiring (22) connecting the drain of the insulated gate transistor (10) with the associated pixel electrode (14) and each of said signal lines (12) are formed by depositing a metallic layer, containing aluminium as a main component, over the connecting layer, a connecting layer that connects the drain wiring and the associated signal line is also formed. Thereafter, the signal line (12) and the drain wiring (22) are selectively formed, followed by formation of a protective layer (62) for protecting the connecting layer from anodization. Surfaces of the signal line (12) and the drain wiring (22) are anodized to form an insulating film (31, 32) and then the protective layer (62) is removed to disconnect the signal line (12) from the drain wiring (22). <IMAGE></p> |
