COMPACT PROGRAMMABLE PARALLEL PROCESSING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To obtain a system for mutually connecting system elements in parallel without reducing the original functions of the system to attain a high speed calculation system having the capacity of a tera-flop class. CONSTITUTION: The programmable processing system includes one or more computer networks and each network is provided with at least one group of processor nodes 50, at least one group of storage nodes 52 and at least one switch 56 for transferring information between the processor node 50 and the storage node 52. Each processor node 50 is provided with at least one processing module including a spatial light modulator, a processor and at least one hologram. Other methods and devices are also disclosed.
