PURPOSE:To perform control so that unnecessary power consumption due to the display of a display device is prevented without newly providing an exclusive control cable. CONSTITUTION:A display control signal generating means 2 provided on a data processor 1 replaces a part of image data with a display control signal and sends the resulting data to the display device 4 through a video signal cable 3 in the case no input is received for a certain time. The display control signal consists of n1 fixed code bits, n2 control code bits, n1 inverse bits of the fixed code, and n2 inverse bits of the control code, i.e., (2n1+2n2) bits in total, and dots at every bit are assigned to one optional line of a display area according to horizontal display dot size. Further, the display device 4 detects and discriminates the display control signal and automatically stops its display operation. |
