A vehicle mirror comprises a base 11 securable to a vehicle and a body 12 having mounted thereon a mirror head 13 and having push-fit, releasable engagement with the base 11 so as to be detached therefrom under force exceeding a predetermined limit, a flexible element 60 such as a nylon cord connecting the body 12 or head 13 with the base 11 and serving to limit detached movement of the body 12 or head 13 from the base 11. The body 12 comprises a tubular port 25 having a lower end portion 26 externally shaped complementary to the inner side of a marginal shoulder 20 on base 11 and including external beads 27 complementary to depressions 24 formed in the base 11, whereby the body 12 is snap-engaged with the base 11. The base 11 has a resilient skirt 17 providing-trim with the vehicle when the mirror is in use. The mirror head 13 is composed of moulded plastics and a mirror proper 40 is moulded therein and the body 12 and head 13 are formed separately and are connected by a threaded bolt 51 which also holds a pressure member 46 serving to press the head 13 into engagement with the body 12, and as shown, the flexible element 60 is attached to the bolt 51. |
