PURPOSE:To assure necessary maintenance space when movable elements are returned to their original positions by disposing work units having work heads movable in a three-dimensional direction at certain intervals to the positions corresponding to the portions of works to be machined. CONSTITUTION:Work units 30 are disposed at intervals equal to the conveying stroke L of a work conveyer device 11, and the space between adjacent work units 30 is determined to be large enough to assure maintenance space H on both sides thereof in which an operator can enter when the work heads 36 are at their original positions. Each of the work units 30 has movable elements 33, 35 for moving the work head 36 into the area of the maintenance space H and a movable element driving device. The work heads 30 can be moved in a predetermined three dimensional direction, and when they are located at predetermined positions within the work area, machining of works is performed. For maintenance, the movable elements 33, 35 are returned to their original positions to assure the maintenance space H between every adjacent work units 30. |
