PURPOSE:To obtain excellent film strength and good adhesion of a coating film to the carrier core and to improve durability and electrification property by coating the surface of the carrier core with a polymer consisting of specified monomers and monomers having functional groups in side chains. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the carrier core is coated with a polymer consisting of monomers expressed by formula I and monomers having functional groups in side chains. In formula I, R<1> is H or CH3 and n is 1 or 2. The monomer having functional groups in side chains is, for example, such a monomer expressed formula II. In formula II, R<2> is H or CH3, X is -OCH2CH2OH, -OH, -NHCH2OH, -NH2, -OCH2-CH(OH)-CH3, or formula III. The proportion of these monomers having functional groups in the copolymer is 1-30wt.%, and preferably 1-15wt.%. The mol.wt. of the copolymer is controlled to obtain about 0.05-2 limiting viscosity number, preferably about 0.2-1.5, in an methylethylketone solvent at 35 deg.C. |
