PURPOSE:To prevent laser beams from leaking out owing to the malfunction of a controller, etc., and to realize reductions in the size and cost of the device, in an image forming device, such as a laser beam printer, which forms an image on a recording sheet to correspond with image information. CONSTITUTION:A power supply line which supplies power to a laser generating part 142 is provided with a cut-out switch 140 which, when a process cartridge 120 is attached to the inside of the device main body, turns on the supply of power to the laser generating part 142, and when the process cartridge 120 is detached from the inside of the device main body, turns off the supply of power to the laser generating part 142. Additionally, the power supplied via the cut-out switch 140 is outputted as the detection signal of a process cartridge presence/absence detection mechanism 143. |
