PURPOSE:To confirm the version without requiring the help of a person in charge by sending the version of programs of the control section when a host device requests it by communication. CONSTITUTION:By a person in charge operating a host computer 80, the request of the program ROM version of a copying machine is transmitted to a PC/ MODEM 6. The copying machine sends the request of the ROM version to the slave CPU 51 when a master CPU 50 receives the command. The slave CPU 51 collects the version of the program ROM 62-65 of CPU 52-55 controlling each unit, and transmits them to the master CPU 50 by adding the version of the program ROM 61 of the slave CPU 51. The master CPU 50 transmits the data via PC/MODEM 6 to the host computer 80 after adding the version of the self program ROM 60.
