PURPOSE: To provide a device and method by which failure analyzing procedures for analyzing at least one defective parts can be decided. CONSTITUTION: The feature of defective parts is inputted by using a job requesting device 14 and, at the same time, the feature of the defective parts is up-loaded on a relational data base 22 housing the features of past defective parts and the corresponding past failure mechanisms. The possible failure mechanism of the defective parts can be selectively retrieved from the data base 22 by performing access to the data base 22 and a set of failure analyzing procedures for confirming the selected possible failure mechanism and the cause of the failure is decided by using the expert system 16 of a knowledge base. |
