PURPOSE:To provide an alloy for a permanent magnet having an R2TM17 type structure (R is rare earth elements and TM is transition metals), capable of exhibiting-excellent magnetic characteristics and capable of being industrially and easily produced. CONSTITUTION:This alloy for a permanent magnet contains >=90vol.% hexagonal or rhombic alloy contg. >=50atomic% Fe as one of transition metals and having an R2TM17 type structure. The formation of a component phase usually contained in this magnet alloy and remarkably deteriorating magnetic characteristics is inhibited by controlling an alloy synthesis method, cooling rate and annealing conditions to obtain a high purity alloy compsn., and magnetic characteristics are enhanced. |
