PURPOSE:To perform signal processing based upon a transfer function with a light signal. CONSTITUTION:Optical waveguides 13-1-13-n with optical path length L are used as unit delay elements and the weighting coefficient of a delayed signal is set by a ratio of branching to the optical waveguides 13-1-13-n by the variable optical couplers 15-1-15-n and phase shifting by phase shifters 18-1-19-n; and it is coupled again with an input signal by a ring-shaped optical waveguide 12 and cyclically used. Consequently, the desired transfer function is obtained with the light signal and the unit delay time can be shortened, so that high-speed processing can be carried out.
