PURPOSE:To provide a spiral type gasket for an automobile exhaust system, which can be suitably applied to a special flange the sealing surface of which is formed into a conical surface. CONSTITUTION:A metallic hoop 2 in a flat band plate and a non-organic filler 3 in a tape shape are piled up in a spiral form, and concurrently comprise the roll starting section 2a and the roll ending section 2b of the hoop 2 spot- welded in a ring form. When external force is applied in the axial direction, there causes a slip between the hoop 2 and the filler 3 so as to be formed into a telescopic shape in the axial. direction, so that each sealing contact surface which is the end surface of a gasket, can be formed into a form of a conical surface.
