PURPOSE:To make it possible to arrange a magazine on the front surface side of a machining center, by providing an automatic tool exchange device, pivotably and indexingably about a pivot shaft which is in parallel with an indexed tool and a spindle which has been shifted to a tool exchange position. CONSTITUTION:An arm 11a of an ATC is rotated to be introduced between tools 13, 13' from its retracted position by means of one of second cylinders 18c. Then the arm 11a is lowered in association with the drive of the cylinder, and the tools 13, 13' are gripped by the arm 11 and are pulled out. At this time, the arm 11a is turned by an angle of 180deg. by means of second cylinders 18a, 18c in another set cylinder 18 so that the tool 13 is shifted toward the tool exchange position A for a spindle 2 while the tool 13' is shifted to the tool exchange position B for a magazine. Then the arm 11a is elevated in association with the drive of the cylinder so that the tools 13, 13' are fitted to the spindle 2 and a tool pot 12, respectively. Thereafter, the arm 11a is shifted to the retracted position by means of a first cylinder 11b. |
