PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of interrupting a copying operation halfway in order to adjust a zoom lens in a direction Y and to prevent a time loss by judging the proper position of the zoom lens in the direction Y and adjusting the lens again if necessary before an original is carried. CONSTITUTION:At first, the original is set in an original carrying part. Next, the width of the original is detected by optical sensors 2206 and 2207. After the original setting is detected by an optical sensor 2205, it is waited for a fixed time by a clock means 8011, and after the fixed time, the detected width is confirmed, and the confirmed original width is stored in a RAM 1008. Next, copying magnification is set by an operation part 1005. Then, the proper position of an XY Zoom lens in the direction Y is decided based on a copying mode and the detected original width. And the present position of the XY zoom lens in the direction Y stored in the RAM 1008 is compared with the decided position, and in the case that the zoom lens is not properly positioned, the copying operation is started after the position of the lens in the direction Y is moved to the proper position before the original is carried. |
