PROCESS FOR LOW LEVEL DESULPHURIZATION OF HYDROCARBONS

A process for the low level desulphurization of hydrocarbons containing sulphides, disulphides, trisulphides, tetrasulphides and mixtures thereof is disclosed. The process comprises contacting contaminated hydrocarbons with zeolites containing copper, silver, zinc or mixtures thereof. The process can be carried out in the gas and in the liquid phase, continuously or discontinuously and makes it possible to desulphurize the hydrocarbons down to a residual content of below 5 ppb of sulphur.
