Process for making superconducting Tl-Pb-Sr-Ca-Cu-O films

A process making thin film elements of an oxide superconductor (Tl.5Pb0.5)Sr2CaCu2O7, (Tl.5Pb0.5)Sr2Ca2Cu3O9 or a mixture thereof. The process entails forming an oxide film of a mixture of oxides of Pb, Sr, Ca and Cu in preselected amounts, placing the oxide film in a container of nonreactive metal such as gold that contains a powder of (Tl.5Pb0.5)Sr2Ca2Cu3O9 superconductor, sealing the container, and heating the sealed container to a temperature of about 820 DEG C. to about 950 DEG C. for at least 1 minute.
