PURPOSE:To enable the accurate differentiation of paper types by simple structure in a paper type differentiation mechanisms used in an forming device, such as a copying machine or a laser-beam printer. CONSTITUTION:In a memory circuit 12, there are stored at least two paper information groups consisting of paper information corresponding to paper data pattern and selection information for designating one paper information group. In CPU 13, on the basis of data pattern occurring in a paper feed cassette 3, paper types in the paper feed cassette 3 are differentiated with a paper information group designated by selection information. A communication port 15 is provided for rewriting selection information stored in the memory circuit 12, to enable the rewriting of selection information. |
