The system, especially for a shell with a main charge and primary (2) and secondary (15) percussion pins, with the latter designed to operate after a specific delay, has the control for the secondary percussion pin made in the form of gas generator (111) inside a closed housing (13) which has the percussion pin (15) projecting from its front end (13a). The housing (13) can have an intermediate annular zone of reduced strength which is designed to rupture under the pressure of the gas produced by the generator. In a variant the housing can be in two sections with a sealed telescopic joint which also separates under the gas pressure. The gas generator can be pyrotechnic in form, with detonative and gas-producing compounds, or chemical, with a liquid such as an acid inside an ampoule, and a metal adjacent to it. The gas generator can be set off by an auxiliary spring-loaded or piston-operated percussion element (35) inside the housing. ADVANTAGE - Ensures safe and automatic detonation of sub-munition if it fails to reach target.
