PURPOSE:To obtain a composite material with superb strength, specific strength and satisfactory surface state as well as a desired shape. CONSTITUTION:The subject composite material consists of a plastic foam with a density of 0.5g/cm<3> max as a core material and an epoxy resin composition containing epoxy resin, foaming agent, curing agent and curing promoter arranged at least, on part of the periphery of the core material with a fiber- reinforced plastic layer formed on the outer surface of the composition. The composite material thus obtained is highly adhesive between each material, and light-weight and adequately strengthened because of a limited number of voids in a foaming material layer. In addition, the composite material has a smooth surface as it adheres to a die tightly during molding. |
