PURPOSE:To uniformly chlorinate a rubber product such as an automotive wiper blade in a short time without side reactions by treating the rubber product consisting of a vulcanized dienic rubber as a main component with chlorine gas in a dry treating tank in which an atmospheric gas is replaced with the chlorine gas. CONSTITUTION:The method for chlorinating the rubber product comprises placing the rubber product (e.g. a wiper blade for an automobile) consisting mainly of a dienic rubber (e.g. butadiene rubber) in a drum 5 set in a treating tank 1, charging the chlorine gas of 5 deg.C from a chlorine gas-charging port 2 for 120sec, simultaneously discharging the chlorine gas, an atmospheric gas and the moisture contained in the atmospheric gas in the tank 1 from a chlorine gas-discharging port so as to make a moisture content of the atmospheric gas <=0.005kg/kg by the replacement of the gas with the chlorine gas, charging the chlorine gas of 50 deg.C for 1min for the chlorination treatment of the rubber product, while controlling the rotation rate of a motor 8 so as to make a rotation number of a drum 5 30rpm, taking out the chlorinated rubber product from the treating tank 1 after the finish of the treatment, washing the product and subsequently drying the washed product. |
