PURPOSE:To enable recording by supplying a part of recording data to one of a plurality of recording heads recording the same color and supplying the remainder of the data to the other head and operating a plurality of the recording heads so as to record the data with a time lag to perform sequential multi- scanning by reduced memory capacity CONSTITUTION:An image is recorded on a medium to be recorded by scanning a plurality of recording heads 3-10 each of which has a plurality of recording elements. A data supply means 604 is equipped with a plurality of the recording heads 3-10 recording the same color and a part of recording data is supplied to one of a plurality of the recording heads and the remainder of the recording data is supplied to the other one of a plurality of the recording heads. Further, recording means 603C, 603M, 603Y, 603B are operated so that the data supplied by a data supply means are recorded with a time lag by the recording heads. As a result, sequential multi-scanning is performed by reduced memory capacity to enable recording. |
