The measuring device includes a circuit for measuring different resistance values which is built into a hand-held object (1) with a protruding, easily replaceable electrode (3) which can be inserted into a contact socket. The rear of the hand-held object has a connector for a cable (6) for connection to the table or to the current conducting part of a surgical instrument. If a resistance value falls below a defined level this is visually and acoustically indicated. USE/ADVANTAGE - For high frequency current treatment of patients.
