A heating or air-conditioning unit, designed according to the invention, for the passenger compartment of motor vehicles has two channels (6, 14) carrying air at different temperatures, which channels both open into an air mixing chamber (30) which leads to a nozzle opening (29), serving for ventilating the passenger compartment, of an air outlet nozzle (16), said air mixing chamber (30) being arranged within the air outlet nozzle (16). Furthermore, the latter is constructed as an elongate slide-in unit which can be inserted from the passenger compartment (31) and additionally contains blocking flaps (23, 27) by means of which the two channels (6, 14) can be opened and closed individually or together.
