A body mounting type electrical connector (10) comprising: a hood (12) which is provided at one end portion of the electrical connector (10) and is formed with an opening (11) for receiving a mating electrical connector (17); a housing (13) for accommodating a plurality of terminals, which is provided at the other end portion of the electrical connector (10); the electrical connector (10) being inserted into a mounting hole (16) of a body member (15) from a distal end of the hood (12) so as to project the distal end of the hood (12) out of an outer surface (15a) of the body member (15) such that the electrical connector (10) is mounted on the body member (15); a hook portion (21) which, when the mating electrical connector (17) is inserted into the opening (11) of the electrical connector (10) initially from one of upper and lower portions of a distal end of the mating electrical connector (17), is provided at a corresponding one of upper and lower portions of the distal end of the hood (12) so as to be engaged with an inner surface (15b) of the body member (15); and a flexible lock (25) which is provided at the other of the the upper and lower portions of the distal end of the hood (12) so as to be engaged with the outer surface (15a) of the body member (15). <IMAGE>
