The invention relates to a method for utilizing a volatile organic material present in a space, comprising: i) the provision of an adsorbent for the organic material; ii) adsorption of organic material by the adsorbent; and iii) combustion of the organic material adsorbed by the adsorbent, the adsorbent preferably being a combustible adsorbent, more preferably a combustible, carbon-containing (carbonaceous) adsorbent.
