The invention relates to a method for causing a first component, in a system comprising two or more components, to process an instruction which has been received thereby from a second component. Upon receiving the instruction, the first component stores the value corresponding to this instruction in a first location of a memory of limited accessibility from outside the first component. Having processed the instruction, the first component then sets the contents of the first memory location to a predetermined value. If the energy supply of the first component is switched off, deliberately or not, the contents of the first memory location will be retained. After the first component is switched on again, it will read the contents of the first memory location and compare the contents read with the predetermined value. Depending on the result of the comparison, the first component will or will not still process the instruction.
