<p>A method and equipment for lowering the temperature of hot gases containing particles that tend to stick to solid surfaces and to recover heat from them, in a plant comprising a furnace, an exhaust duct for the smoke, a flue and a device for the flue to filter the particles between the said exhaust duct and the flue. The exhaust gas from the furnace is mixed with a flow of the same exhaust gas bled off downstream of one or more heat exchangers placed in the path of the said exhaust gas towards the flue, upstream of the filtering equipment, so that the mixed gas is at a lower temperature than the gas leaving the furnace.
